An ever more International... |
...FESTIVAL.
The Festival faces change every year, change and increase. The first few years we could see young people from the Italian provinces and gym owners who hadn’t really yet understood what fitness was about, they would roam around the old Rimini Fair with a bewildered look on their faces but they were also filled with great expectations, certain that the Fitness Festival would have a bright future. We are now in that so much dreamt of bright future, a future that nobody had ever really doubted and which has become a huge success. |

But still the most important thing about the Festival are its people, those youngsters who have since grown up
(not only the six packs and bicepts), who now come to Rimini with their
families, prams and pushchairs.
But it’s no longer only the Italians who set off for this yearly
appointment, but also Americans (always a step ahead regarding sports’
disciplines), Spaniards, Brazilians and visitors from the Eastern block
(Poland, Lithuania...), and the gorgeous looking girls, with their blond hair and very blue
eyes.
The biggest novelty of this year’s Festival is a group of Oriental
monks, who have brought their own spiritual Karma to Freddy’s stand and if this year’s Festival has gathered people from all corners of the world, who knows from what galaxy they will come from next
year! |

...Fitness
Festival
Lots of maxi-screens, TV sets and radios for those who couldn’t tear themselves away yesterday from the Fitness Festival. For the first time in its history, it literally stopped for almost two hours, to watch Italy play football in the world cup, which saw the AZZURRI qualify for the next round of the competition.
It was a very strange sensation, all of a sudden the drumming sounds of the music disappeared, it usually thumps away loudly from all the stands and events, and the voice of the football commentator came on through the stereo system.
Everyone, visitors and trainers, organizers and guests, suffered well beyond 3 pm, until Del Piero’s goal. With a scream of relief which closed the football parenthesis and reopened the fitness one, and as quick as a flash the three colours of the Italian flag appeared, in the hands of the Italian Show-girl: Adriana Volpe, the God-mother of the Festival, waving it happily letting out an enormous liberatory scream, just like that of Del Piero.
